National Junior Beta Club

The National Beta Club Mission Statement

To promote the ideals of character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students, to reward meritorious achievement and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school.

What is Junior Beta Club?

The National Beta Club is the nation's largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization. They are committed to recognizing and promoting high academic achievement, encouraging service to others, and developing character and leadership skills. Junior Beta Club at MES is for students in grades 5 and 6.

Being a student-centered organization, The National Beta Club continually seeks ways to develop and nurture students by providing opportunities and experiences that enable them to demonstrate the ideals of character, achievement, service and leadership.

How do students join?

In order to qualify for Beta Club membership, students must meet stringent academic and character-related requirements. After first quarter students, questionnaires are given to teachers to assess the character qualities of students who are academically eligible.  Once students are determined to be eligible, they are invited to become a Beta Club member.

Club Activities

Students in Beta Club participate in a variety of activities throughout the year.  Here are just a few:

  • Work in the volleyball concession stand
  • Update the MES marquee
  • Host annual 5th and 6th grade sock hop dance
  • Participate in club meetings
  • Trip to Laser Rock at the end of the school year
