Illinois Spotlight SchoolMarissa Elementary has been named a 2009 Spotlight School by the Illinois State Board of Education.  Spotlight Schools are "high poverty schools where high academic performance is closing the 'achievement gap.'"  Spotlight schools show that low-income students and schools with limited resources can show impressive academic performance.

MES faculty and staff are very proud of this achievement and we will continue to push forward in our efforts to provide opportunities for our students to reach their fullest potential.
