English IV

Course Description

British Literature Course Objective:  In this course, we will explore some of the important authors, works, themes, and movements in British literature from its beginnings to the present day.  While we do not have the time in a single year to do justice to all significant writers and works, we will seek to understand and appreciate the rich British literary imagination, which has drawn on a multitude of experiences and perspectives in a variety of genres.  Through a variety of audience writing, research writing, project base learning, socratic seminaring, journal writing, portfolio collections, and lecturing about this literature, we will broaden our British cultural literacy, deepen our appreciation of language and literature, and explore the complex nature of this country and ourselves.
