Dear Marissa CUSD No. 40 Families and Friends:
The safety of our children is our number one priority. This letter is to inform you about a social media threat that several of our students were involved with recently.
This morning, the school was made aware of a social media threat. As soon as we were made aware of the threat, we investigated and involved the local authorities. Within a short period of time, with the help of the local police department, we determined that the threat was not credible. However, it was decided that this message be sent to make the community more aware of the situation.
All threats to our school are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. We appreciate your help as we work together to keep our students safe. Please continue to encourage your children to report suspicious behavior and/or threats to the proper authorities. In this case, the Marissa Police Department will continue the investigation.
If you have questions or ideas on how we can continually focus on the safety of our children, please feel free to reach out to me at email@example.com or 618.295.2393.
Vince Hughes, Ed.D.
Principal, Marissa Jr. Sr. High School
