Principals Message

Hello! My name is Lacey Schmersahl and I am very excited to be the principal at Marissa Elementary. I am excited to begin my fourth year as the building principal. Marissa is my hometown and it's a privilege to work in the district. I was born and raised here and was a graduate of the Class of 2000. I currently live outside of Marissa with my husband and our three children. I studied Elementary Education at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I began teaching in 2004. In 2008 I graduated from McKendree University with my Master's Degree in Educational Leadership. After 10 years in the classroom, I accepted an assistant principal position in Belleville District 118. After serving as assistant principal for three years, I accepted the position at Marissa. It has been on the best decisions I have ever made.

Being back at Marissa is truly a dream come true. It's awesome to see so many familiar faces. The students and staff at MES are truly the best and I look forward to many years here. I have a true passion for helping others and I believe my life's mission is to impact and support as many students and families as I can. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to contact me. Although this school year may look different than what we are used to, I am looking forward to a great year!
